Blogger Recognition Award

blogger-recognition-award

My Blogger Recognition Award come to me by Saywhatyoumean2say. I hope all my readers stop in and give this blogger a like. https://saywhatumean2say.com/

The rules of this award are:

  1. Explain how and why you started this blog.

  2. Offer advice to new bloggers.

  3. Nominate other bloggers for the award.

A few years ago Blogger Awards were being passed around constantly until it became annoying.  You didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by saying no because you didn’t have time for all the rules and postings. There were even bloggers that put up notices that they were a non award site.  It seemed to play it self out.

With this one the rules are few and simple. It is a chance to list a few blogs that others might like to stop in and take a look.  No one is under any obligation to participate if they don’t want to.

1 Why did I start this blog?

I started 6 years ago when I signed up to keep in touch with people I had met in the Talking Points Cafe.  It was a political readers blog and the owner of the site closed the read blog down. Some of us came to wordpress. The first 2 years I used my account as a jumping off point for organizing writing for another blog at an other site as well as the group blog that was here.  Then one of the member suggested that I do some recipe blogging for low income.  That turned out to be a pleasure and I worked on it when I could.  I cleaned out all the political stuff that I did the first 2 years and left just the first blog.  So I have been working on food for the last 4 years with crafts added in the last 2 years. I just got finished with up dating the lay out and look to the blog.

2. Offer advice to new bloggers.

It take time to get your self established.  When I started there were many very good food writers here at WordPress.  Some moved on to their own domain site others moved to sites that specialized in recipes with software that that readers could print out recipes with. Also many just stopped over time.  I gave myself breaks with the intention of coming back when I had time to do so.  That is why I have been here for so long. Take the breaks that you need.

Don’t compare your  work with others.  I had to learn how to photograph food and learn how to post using all the tools.  I still don’t know about all the tools.  New things get added and moved around. Spend time commenting and interacting with your readers and other blogs that you read. I am also connected with social media.  That will bring traffic to your blog too.

3. Nominate others for the Award.

Please take time to stop in and check out their work. These are my nominees.

If anyone else had asked me to join in, I would have declined. Right now the blog is doing very well and there is lots to keep up with. It is keeping my mind off of the crappy fall election.

You can bug me anytime you want. I always look forward to it. I liked the idea that the instructions were so simple. I am upgrading again. I have figured out how to write a code to make my recipes printable. They probably have had this option for a while but I didn’t look for it until I noticed it on another blog. I also found how to add like buttons to the comments too. It only took me 6 years to find that option. LOL..
