Celery seed dressing is a wonderful dressing that keeps well in the refrigerator. It is wonderful on slaw and other salads that you want a little sweet and tart flavor. I like to use this on pasta, tomato and basil salad.
Creamy Celery Seed Salad Dressing
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard or prepared mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 6 tablespoons vinegar (any flavor)
- 1 cup oil
- 1 tablespoon celery seed
In a blender or food processor blend sugar, mustard, salt, onion powder and vinegar. Slowly add oil in a steady thin stream while blending. Then blend for 30 seconds more. The mixture should be thick and creamy. Pour into a jar with tight lid and add celery seed. Shake and serve. Makes 1 1/2 cups. Store in refrigerator.
Tip: It is cheaper to buy spices in bulk. Just measure out what you can use in a year and store in a bottle with an air tight lid. I just refill the original bottle. Most organic stores have bulk spices.
